We are excited to offer the band students of Foothill High School an exciting and rewarding Educational Performing Arts Experience in Chicago on April 10-14, 2012. We have collaborated with Educational Discovery Tours and created a trip that will not only be a fun, milestone opportunity for our students, but also a solid educational program designed to support the goals of our music program.

FOOTHILL HIGH SCHOOL BAND

 

April 10 - 14th, 2012


Your students will be participating in college-level educational music programs during their tour which will feature educational music clinics, concert exchanges with a local school and public performance opportunities in the Windy City. At the same time, your student will experience the many highlights of Chicago: the Sears Tower, tallest building in the USA; the festive Navy Pier; the Chicago Blue Man Group; city Jazz Clubs; the Magnificent Mile; a Broadway show or Chicago Symphony; and a sightseeing cruise on Lake Michigan, to name a few.

DAY 1 (Tues 4/10/12)
-Arrive Chicago, mid-day, meet EDT Trip Leader(s)
-Soar into the sky - Sears Tower Skydeck or John Hancock Sky Lounge
-Music Clinic at local college or university*
-Hotel check-in
-Navy Pier, souvenir and gift shopping/food court/carousel/ferris wheel
-Dinner and Blue Man Group Show

DAY 2 (Wed 4/11/12)
-Breakfast
-Music Exchange with local school* if available
-Chicago Field Museum w/ Public Performance*
-Dinner, Chicago’s famous pizza

-Museum of Science and Industry
-City tour including: Wrigley Field, architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright, Lakefront, Old Town and the Loop, Photo Stop – Buckingham Fountain, Union Station
-Shopping, time to explore the “Magnificent Mile” or State Street
-Tommy Gun’s Garage, live interactive dinner show

 

DAY 4 (Fri 4/13/12)
-Breakfast
-Shedd Aquarium
-Attend a professional baseball game Chicago Cubs
-Dinner
-Broadway Show or Chicago Symphony

 

DAY 5 (Sat 4/14/12)
-Breakfast & Check out of hotel
-Sightseeing cruise on Lake Michigan

Parental Release: I permit my child to participate in the Educational Discovery Tours trip for his/her school. I hereby release and hold harmless Educational Discovery Tours, the school, designated group leaders and chaperones from liability and from all actions or claims that I or my child now or may hereafter have, for damage and injury to my child, or to persons or property, resulting from the negligence or other acts of any employees or agents of Educational Discovery Tours, in connection with my child’s participation in the school trip. I also understand that all school rules are in effect at all times throughout this trip and that any violators will be sent home at parent’s expense.   I understand that trip price is subject to change based on increases imposed by transportation vendors.


In case of medical emergency, I hereby give permission to Educational Discovery Tours or the group chaperone to order treatment for my child.   This includes any neces­sary medical treatment or x-rays.  I understand that an attempt will be made to reach me by telephone when diagnosis is completed.
