2 Day Sacramento & Gold Country Experience
California's Riches
With its heavy political and social influence combined with its natural beauty, California has established itself as the standard by which other states compare themselves. This itinerary will take students through the political and social history of the Golden State and inspire them to carry on California’s golden tradition. Sacramento’s hidden treasures are those appreciated by young minds and educators across America. Our mission is to education with a visual aspect of California’s history and its riches.

EDT has two options with this program:
Option #1
Day One - This program will provide students with the opportunity to visit the California State Capitol and see government in action. You will also explore historic Sutter’s Fort and take a Wagon Ride through Old Sacramento. Participate in a lesson at the Old Schoolhouse Museum and learn about magnificent locomotives at the California State Railroad Museum. Hotel accommodations overnight.

Day Two - Visit Marshall Gold Park, the site where gold was discovered in California. Participate in EDT’s unique Living History Program where you will pan for gold under the direction of a genuine gold prospector and discover how the Mountain Men fr om th e 1800’s lived and how they impacted the Gold Rush. Make and take home a toy that Pioneer children made in the 1800’s. Participate in a lively musical sing-along with our Music Man.
Option #2
Day One - This program will provide students with the opportunity to visit the California State Capitol and see government in action. You will also explore historic Sutter’s Fort. Participate in EDT’s unique Living History Program where you will pan for gold under the direction of a genuine gold prospector and make and take home a toy that Pioneer children made in the 1800’s. After dinner learn all about how the California Native Americans lived and participate in a lively musical sing-along with our M usic Man. Tent camping accommodations overnight.
Day Two - Participate in EDT’s unique Living History Program and discover how the Mountain Men from the 1800’s lived and how they impacted the Gold Rush. Make a tin project under the instruction of our Tinsmith. Visit Sutter’s Mill and Marshall Gold Park, the site where gold was discovered in California. Visit Old Sacramento and learn about magnificent locomotives at the California State Railroad Museum
Program & Curriculum Objectives
Students demonstrate an understanding of the physical and human geographic features that define places and regions in California.
Students describe the social, political, cultural, and economic life and interactions among people of California from pre-Columbian societies to the Mexican rancho periods.
Students explain the economic, social, and political life of California including the Bear Flag Revolt, the Gold Rush, and granting of statehood.
Students understand the structures, functions, and powers of the local, state, and federal governments as described in the U.S. Constitution.
Students learn various properties of rocks and minerals and the processes that formed them.
