Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
We are very excited about your upcoming adventure and wanted to provide you with an update on the precautions that have been put into place regarding the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
The health, safety, and well-being of our customers is our number one priority. We are in close contact with all of our vendor partners to make sure we are in compliance with the guidelines from the U.S. Centers of Disease Control, World Health Organization, and other public health authorities in all of the destinations that our groups travel to. This situation remains quite fluid and we are monitoring on a daily basis.
Additional security measures are being implemented daily as they become necessary. In addition to thoroughly cleaning charter buses, hotels, meal sites and tour sites, we have asked our vendor partners to have extra supplies of hand sanitizer available for travelers to use.
Are the destinations that we are traveling to safe?
We are speaking with local health officials as well as following the recommendations of the CDC and local health authorities in all areas that we operate trips. We will not support travel to a destination to areas where government is restricting travel or the CDC has issued a Warning Level 3.
What does a State of Emergency mean?
States or governments are required to declare a State of Emergency in order to access federal funding, should it be needed. This does not mean that there is necessarily active or threatening issues in that area.
Will my trip be cancelled?
As of this date, the CDC has issued travel warnings for China, Iran, South Korea, and parts of Europe. We are working on postponing, cancelling or relocating programs to these areas scheduled to travel in March and April 2020.
The CDC and other local authorities have not advised against travel to any other destinations. We will continue to operate as planned for all destinations except the above. If additional information becomes available from the health officials or the CDC we will make changes as necessary.
We are working on a case-by-case basis with schools impacted by administration, school board, or district decisions to cancel travel, and providing options and solutions relating to the individual circumstances.
What if someone gets sick while on a trip?
If a student or parent falls ill while on a trip, we will assist the group in getting medical attention as necessary and will assist travelers with what they need as recommended by medical staff. We suggest that if a traveler becomes ill while on a trip they seek medical attention sooner, rather than later.
What if a group gets quarantined?
In the unlikely event that a group or individual is quarantined, we will assist in securing lodging, transportation, meals, etc. as required. You can count on the team at Educational Discovery Tours to provide the support necessary to rectify the situation at hand. As far as we are concerned, we are not satisfied with your tour until every traveler has made it safely home.
Travelers should be prepared to arrive early for airport check in as there are new screening measures in place at some airports. This is an important measure that health organizations are taking to help halt the spread of the virus.
Hygiene and prevention measures
All travelers should follow standard hygiene practices to avoid illness. Some of these practices are: frequent hand washing with soap and warm water, carrying hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes, covering mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze, and avoiding contact with sick individuals.
Thank you for your business and we look forward to providing you with a fun and most memorable trip!
