Provide your 4th grade students with highly interactive and fun living history programs designed to support your classroom curriculum. The exclusive 4th grade California history tours is a living history camp is set on the banks of the American River in Coloma, the heart of the Gold Country. Upon your group’s arrival at camp, you’ll be greeted by our enthusiastic and talented tour guides. They will introduce your students to true characters of the fabled Gold Country. Daytime activities include panning for gold, tinsmithing making pioneer toys and listening to true survival tales of our authentic “Mountain Man”.

Adventurous classrooms have the opportunity to spend the night in our authentic encampment. Students will sleep overnight in the same type of tents the pioneers used. They’ll enjoy musical entertainment by our Gold Rush musician who uses spoons, harmonica and a variety of instruments to perform authentic music of the miners and pioneers. Campfire stories feature an oral history of the California Maidu tribe.
